U15A Girls
Leixlip 3 Maynooth 1
Great win for the girls following our promotion, especially as it was against Maynooth (who were just relegated from Premier) in our first game at this level.
2 goals from Jess Howard in the first half and 1 from Emily Lynch put us 3 0 up. They pulled one back and it was tense after that, needed a couple of excellent saves from our keeper.. but it was a great performance from the girls, in a very physical contest.. with two debuts in the team as well.
Leixlip 15 premier Vs Malahide
5-3
Lads started season in a competitive game against a really well drilled team.
Started poor and conceded a sloppy goal.
Hit back with a magnificent half way line strike into the top corner from Josh Fagan , a well worked goal from Callum and an OG.
Second half started in same light and after a poor five mins conceded a bad goal .. hit back with a Josh flood strike but conceded again before an Albert 30 yard rocket sealed the game.
Under 18 girls
Leixlip United 4 Lucan United 3.
First competitive game in 6 months and our first in an older league(we have no actual under 18 players!!) we went 2 nil down early doors so did really well to dig out a win๐๐
U13-6 Sunday
Leixlip 2-3 Kilnamanagh
Tough first game back against one of last seasons league leaders but we rose to the challenge 1st half and we were the better team playing lovely football, we took a deserved lead through a Sam Baker goal, but some hesitant defending let them in for a leveller and a halftime 1-1 scoreline. We where a bit sluggish second half and we were a bit wasteful in front of goal, Kilnamanagh started to get at us and went 3-1 up, but credit to the boys they kept plugging away and we got another from Sam Baker to close the deficit, we pushed and pushed and we had some good chances but just could not get it in the net. All in all a very pleasing performance just lacked the right result.
U15 A1
Bluebell/Knockmitten 2 -v- 3 Leixlip Utd.
Not a classic performance by any stretch and the lack of preseason friendlies really showed, they were tough opposition who made it difficult all the way, they took the lead first half and we had keeper Steve Adedeji to thank for keeping it to 1 at the half with a great peno save after some slopppy defending.
2nd half we started sluggish again and weren't really in it until they got their second a tap in following smashing save from our keeper again, the heads could have went down but we dug deep and with goals from Abel Adam, Rob Poalleti and a long range screamer from Daragh Craven we took the lead, we dug deep for the last 10 and some great 18 yard box control from Steve Adedeji saw us home. Great to be back it and even better with the win.
