U12.2 Girls Leixlip United.
Our under 12.2 league winning side were presented with medals at a function in the club coffee shop on Tuesday 1st October. The girls are a history making group as they are our first ever girls team to win a ddsl league title. Huge congratulations to the girls and their coaches Mark Johnston and Frank Hoban.

U12.2 Girls Leixlip United DDSL Champions

U17 Major Girls Knocklyon 1 Leixlip United 5.
Molly Crehan winning the toss meant a lot as we got the wind to start and we made it count. Sophie Dalton put Cara Moriarty in and she scored with her left. Next a nice corner from Cara was volleyed in by Grace Kelly. The girls kept going and Sarah Small’s ball forward was deftly placed by Sophie for Grace to finish neatly. Having assisted well it was Sophie’s turn to score by poaching when their keeper spilled it. Getting the 4-0 lead was important now facing into the wind after the break and we urged the girls to score first. Cara nipped through a couple of tackles and set up Sophie who struck her second well. Their consolation goal came from a strong hit from distance but the girls stayed in control. Excellent performances from across the squad and special mention for Emma Murphy who kept going and did some excellent sweeping up at the base of midfield.

U14-7 Boys Vianney 0 Leixlip United 0.
Great to get a point today after a couple of poor results. Playing against the wind in the first half Vianney must have 10 corners but we defended well and kept them out. We started playing some good football in the last 10 minutes of the first half but couldn't get into shooting positions. In the second half we played more attacking but again didn't take any chances. Our keeper Will saved us with 4 great saves during the game.

17s Major Boys Clontarf 0 Leixlip United 2.
Good win out in St Anne's Park, we started poorly with a slippery pitch, against the wind and sun and had to ride out the half 0-0. 2nd half, we were much better and we pushed on and went 1 up through Finn. The game was sloppy at times and we had missed a couple of chances before Daire chased down a hopeless ball, put the keeper under pressure and nicked it off him to make it 2-0. Another clean sheet and a solid defensive performance to make it 2 clean sheets in a row.

U16 Major 1 Girls Leixlip United 4 Knocklyon 3.
A brilliant performance from the team today to get our first win on the board in our new division. It was a real team effort from 1-11, and we only had 11 today so we needed everyone to have a good game and they did. Indeed we played for much of the first half with only 10 after Ashley picked up a knock, but she bravely got back out for the second half and we dominated from then on. Our passing was the best it has been this season and led directly to three of our goals. An all-round excellent team performance. Well done everyone! Goals scored by Erin x 2, Daisy and Clodagh.

U16 St Kevin’s 1 Leixlip United 3 SFAI16 Cup.
Great result for boys this morning against a strong premier team, game only kicked off when we lost a poor goal when a ball over top wasn't cleared. Lads however regrouped and a 5 min double from Prince changed the run of the game, lads controlled the match and dealt with everything Kevin’s could muster, Conor our keeper finished the game for us when his goal kick cleared the half way line and bounced over the Kevin’s keeper, fully deserved from boys.

U13.1 Boys Leixlip United 4 Greystones 2.
First win of the season for the lads after a few disappointing results where we dropped points needlessly.  We were two nil down after ten minutes due to defensive mix ups. Lads retained their composure and started playing and got their reward with two excellently taken goals by man of the match Conor Merriman. Confidence was high and a great Sam Cribbin finish had us deservedly up 3-2 at the break. Completely dominated the second half but couldn’t kill it off until a cheeky chipped finish by Damien Burke ensured we took home the 3 points.

U15.1 Boys Leicester Celtic 2 Leixlip United 4.
We took the lead within 10 minutes. Corner ball from Zach Fitzpatrick and Stevie Owens finishing on 6 yard box. 15 minutes later we followed up with our second. Again another brilliant corner from Zach Fitzpatrick and this time Aidan McConville was the quickest to react with a toe poke finish. We could have had another 2 before half time. Came out the 2nd half and Leicester Celtic pulled 1 back within 3 mins after they caught us on the break and we switched off at the back. Again we where on top 2nd half and a misplaced pass from their back line allowed Brendan Carolan to finish with lob over their keeper to make it 3-1. We then again allowed opposition back into the game. This time they scored from a corner kick after we where slow to clear our lines. The match was finally put away with 10 minutes remaining. Pass out by Conor Watkins from the back, Stevie Owens fed Brendan Carolan who ran half length of pitch and finished beautifully across their keeper into bottom right hand corner. Great win considering depleted squad with only 1 sub available and 7 of the squad unavailable. 3 wins in row.

U18 Major Boys Leixlip United 3 Stella maris 2.
Leixlip came into this game on 15pts from 18 and wanted to keep this momentum going and claim top spot. The spirit in this team is something special considering it is a new side. Each player giving a 100% each week in training and games whether it's a player in the 1st 11 or a player not starting, their commitment is there for all the management to see. Leixlip started the game really well playing some neat football spreading the play all over the pitch and pretty much continued that way all through the game while dealing with the long ball that Stella maris played right from the refs 1st whistle. A big mention has to be said for the back line of Oisin larkin Dylan Horan Tom McCormack  Dean Quigley and Cillian Montaulan who where solid all game particularly Dylan who dealt with long ball after long ball and kept his composure under pressure to always pick out a pass. Our striker Jamie Cassells and MOTM scored a spectacular hat-trick to beat 4th in the table Stella and put us nicely on top of the league with 18pts from 21. It's still very early days but as we said to the boys last night they are getting better every week and we are extremely proud of the way they've started the season. Played 7 won 6 bring on next weekend.
