On this note we would like to reinforce the importance of positive behaviour on the sidelines during matches. The support and encouragement from parents plays a crucial role in our club and we kindly ask for your cooperation and adherence to the following guidelines:
- Support, Don't Direct: While it's natural to want the best for your child during the game, it's important to refrain from directing them or other players from the sidelines. Let the coaches handle the guidance and direction during the game.
- Encourage Sportsmanship: Emphasise the value of good sportsmanship to your child and encourage fair play. Win or lose, it's essential to respect the opposing team, the referees, and the game itself.
- Avoid Negative Commentary: Refrain from making negative comments about players, coaches, or referees. Such behaviour can create a tense and hostile atmosphere, which is detrimental to the players' development and enjoyment of the game.
- Respect Boundaries: Stay within designated spectator areas and refrain from entering the field of play unless necessary or invited by a coach or official. This ensures the safety and security of all involved.
- Lead by Example: Remember that your behaviour sets an example for your child and others. Show respect and sportsmanship in your actions and words.
- Above all, remember that these are CHILDREN taking part in sports and should be encouraged in a positive manner. Negative comments and shouting from the sidelines will not be tolerated.
Additionally, we urge you to have a conversation with your child about their behaviour both on and off the pitch. Emphasise the importance of respecting teammates, opponents, coaches, and officials. Encourage them to play with passion and determination while upholding the values of fair play and sportsmanship.
Kind regards
Paul Martin, Chairman
