U16B. Mourne Celtic 4 - 1 Leixlip
Tough one to take. Went one nil down midway through the first half after a defensive lapse. Equalised just before half time through a great free kick from Jack Kelly. Mourne took their chances in the second half and we didn't. Too many missed tackles, lads not tracking back, and not moving the ball quick enough. Lots to work on but lack of match time lately was probably also a factor today.
U13Major Ardmore Rovers 2-3 Leixlip Utd
Our fourth league win on the bounce was more nervy than it should have been. After we missed several great chances to open the scoring, Aidas smashed home a quick fire double to put us 2 up at halftime. In the 2nd half we created and missed several more glorious opportunities before Senán was fouled in the box. Ben blasted the resulting peno past the Ardmore keeper to put us 3 up. An Ardmore penalty and another goal 2 minutes into additional time ensured we were relieved at the full time whistle.
Cabinteely 3-4 Leixlip under 17 Major.
We were 3-0 down at half time and scored 4 in the second half. Two 30 yard crackers from Craig Norris and then another 30 yard strike from Craig that came off the woodwork to be followed up and headed in by Ian Cassells. 5 minutes to go and under 16 year old Robertas scored the winner. Great result and winning this game with 3 under 16 players was a great feeling.
15M Knocklyon Utd 1 Leixlip Utd 8.
An absolutely brilliant first half when they just blew Knocklyon away. 3 goals from Fiacra Martin and 1 each from Aidan Doyle, Jesse Cabral and Adam Adiboye had us 6 up at half time. Some sloppy play allowed Knocklyon to pull a goal back early in the half but we quickly took over again and further goals from Aaron McDonagh and Jack Doran left us very comfortable winners. Good preparation for next week's SFAI cup tie against Premier opposition Portmarnock.
Shout out to our u10 A1 boys who braved the cold weather and crazy early kick off out in Greystones to continue an incredible run of performances so far this season. Some quality football and goals scored
Minutes Silence for Mick Mahady (RIP)
As a mark of respect, our U13 -7 held a minute's silence for former Leixlip United player and manager Mick Mahady. We will be doing a guard of honour before Mick's funeral mass in Leixlip on Tuesday morning at 11am. We will be meeting at The Church of Our Lady's Nativity at 10.40 to be ready for the arrival of the funeral. We hope for a good turn out for Mick.
