The U13 Major boys hosted FC Eagles in the 2nd round of the SFAI Cup yesterday. (Photo above) It was an entertaining encounter on a damp cold morning that served up plenty of excellent goals. Each of the Leixlip Utd boys displayed the right attitude, work rate and desire which resulted in a fully deserved victory for the home team. FC Eagles battled hard and made it difficult, however, Aidas, Charlie C, Conor, Dan, Dara and Max all managed to get on the scoresheet. Bohs or Home Farm await in round 3.
Squad: Adam Rafferty, Aidas Kathkauskas, Charlie Cooke, Charlie Norman, Conor O’Sullivan, Dan Lyons, Dara Moylan, Glen Murray, Josh Johnson, Kian McCormack, Liam Downey, Luke Dennehy, Max Kelleher, Senán McAuley.

SFAI U16 Cup, Round 2 Leixlip 5-1 Stella Maris 2
Convincing win against a team that would have been battling out for relegation with us last season, so great progress is being made week after week. Similar performance to last week, dominated and missed a lot of chances, but this week we got the extra goals while keeping them at bay most of the game. A hat-trick from Lewis including a great free kick, 2 from Robertas and some great play in general from the team. Conceded late to lose the clean sheet, disappointed, but can let it slide this week

U15 A Leixlip 3 - Ballyfermot 3
A dry day for once saw both teams taking a point. Leixlip started like a steam train and were finally rewarded after 17 minutes when Cian played a magic pass to Cameron who took on a defender and supplied the perfect assist to Gabriel who slotted the ball away. 3 minutes later Ballyfermot equalised from a free kick just outside the box and that was how it remained until the break. The second half Leixlip continued to dominate and 8 min in Cameron got rewarded for his enormous effort by scoring a cracker from 20 yards. Our 3rd came from a penalty when Adam was taken down after making life very difficult for their defence which Cam put away to take a 3-1 lead and 15min to play. Ballyfermot did not stop fighting and a fine worked goal after some confusion at the back led to their 2nd. Our discipline let us down way too often and after a few close shave free kicks they got their penalty and made it 3. MOTM goes to Cameron for a second week in a row. Big shout out to Ballyfermot's keeper who left the pitch on a wheelchair. Let's hope you are OK

FAI Youth Cup. Leixlip Utd 2 Cabinteely 1.AET.
A great win for our under 18s against a very good Cabinteely team who had Leixlip 3-2 last week in the league. A really tight game went to extra time when both teams had the opportunity to win it. Thankfully Leixlip came out on top thanks to goals from Adam Rock and Alex Akindrindoyo.

SFAI Cup 2nd round: Leixlip 2 Rush 1
Great win against perennial premier opposition - with lots of hard running on the big astro. The girls created a number of chances early, a highlight was Grace Kelly driving quickly from the touchline at half way only to hit the crossbar from inside the box. Our breakthrough came when Cara Moriarty latched on a loose ball & shot past the keeper. We nearly added another when Gwen Sullivan got a good shot away that just went wide & then they nearly scored but for a fantastic Branna Ward save.

The girls didn’t give an inch against this physical team in the second half and Cara scored again from a free 10 yards outside the box.
Great performances across the pitch held them out - the back 4 and midfield played their hearts out - Sarah Small in particular. Rush scored with a fine strike 10 minutes from time but we deservedly go through to the next round.

U14A Leixlip 1 Lucan 4
A game of 2 halves with a disappointing result. We had all the ball in the first half and took the lead from a lovely move - starting from Krystian ivanov who played in Luke schuster who combined with Aidan McConville and Ben kineavey in the box and the ball was rolled to Senan moriarty who ran on to it & shot passed the keeper.
We had more chances & hit the post and had a goal line clearance but went in at the break 1 up.
After half time we hit the crossbar but Lucan upped their game and started to pass through us and in fairness to them took their chances and scored 2 quick goals to turn it around. We continued to chase the game and as we tired they scored 2 late goals on the break.

U13 girls LUFC 4 - 0 Templeogue
After about 10 panicked phone calls I finally got the lights on and thankfully the girls' football skills shone under them. Their passing, movement and ability were all on point from the first to the last whistle. The first goal followed a great run down the wing by Annabel Carty and was crossed brilliantly by Cara Murphy, controlled at the back post by Cadhla Eviston and finished like a rocket into the roof of the net.
Our second goal came soon after which started at right back with Lily Diffney who played a great ball to switch play over to cadhla who then crossed it in and finished superbly by Annabel with the outside of her right foot.
Our third goal, which was scrappy in the box, not even VAR would have cleared up but the ref pointed to the center spot and Olivia Harrington had another goal this season. Constant pressure on Templeogue all evening and they just couldn't live with us. The forth & final goal came in the second half, great work on the left wing by Emily Keegan, Cara Murphy and Annabel Carty and a fantastic finish by Sophie Murphy at the near post from the left hand side.
This is only their third league game so far this season so it was great to get the game in on the astro and they loved playing under the lights.

MGL u16 premier Leixlip 4 Rush 1.

Strong performance against a team that's been a fixture in the Premier division for a few years. Leixlip started well and Grace Kelly bundled an excellent Cara Moriarity corner over the line. Sophie Dalton added a penalty after a hand ball to make it 2 0. Leixlip fought for every loose ball and Cara Moriaty drove from deep and scored a 3rd with an excellent finish. Rush pulled a goal back with 15 mins to go but Leixlip remained in control and prevented a nervy ending after some great passing in midfield put Sophie Dalton through who finished really well to seal a good victory against a team who had some excellent players.

U13A1 SAT Leixlip Utd 6 - 1 Portmarnock AFC. A great win for the lads today. We started very strong against a team that had beaten us a couple of weeks back. We got off to a great start with Conor Tighe putting us one up. We were on top for the first 25 minutes but could not convert our chances. Pormarnock came back into the game to make it a nervy last five minutes and just before halftime Ben Donnelly pulled off a fantastic save to keep us one up at the break. The second half was a different story; we completely dominated again and added five goals not allowing Portmarnock to play at all. Goals from Ethan Morrison, Tom Dolan, James Iredale and a second from Conor Tighe made a great afternoon for the lads. Portmarnock got a consolation goal with the last kick of the game but that didn't take the gloss off what was a great all round performance by the lads. Special mention to Aaron Becker, who got man of the match today.
